What Does Gaussmeter Measure?

Digital or analog gaussmeter measures the magnetic field intensity on the magnet surface. Digital Gaussmeters can usually measure a magnetic field of 16,000 Gauss and above. It measures the intensity of the magnetic field at a point or around an object. Analog gaussmeters, also known as magnetometers, can measure the small amount of magnetic field remaining on metal parts.

What is Magnet Gauss Value?

The Gauss expression indicates the amount of power of the magnet in the most basic sense. The higher this value, the more magnetic field the magnet is said to have. For example, it is very difficult to separate a 16,000 Gauss magnet from metals. While the amount of gauss in a standard N35 neodymium magnet is in the range of 3000-4000 Gauss, this is in the range of 2000-3000 gauss in ferrite magnets.

What is the Gauss Unit?

The Gauss symbol is known as G and refers to the intensity of the magnetic field. 10,000 Gauss is equal to 1 Tesla (T). So we can say that the Gauss unit is T (Tesla). Magnetic field intensity is expressed in Tesla in the SI unit, the international system of units, and in Gauss in the CGS unit. It reports how much magnetic flux is on the surface of a metal or magnet.

Can Every Gaussmeter Measure?

Gaussmeter probe feature is very important and should be maintained. There are two types of Gaussmeter probes, Axial (Longitudinal) and Transverse (Transverse). Gaussmeter device should be checked and calibrated at certain intervals. If we are going to make Gauss Measurement with Gaussmeter device, we renew our device annually. The gaussmeter device is checked before and after the measurement service in our own organization. Afterwards, the new device is calibrated at TÜBİTAK UME center, which is the only authorized institution for traceability. Our Gaussmeter devices are regularly checked every year in TÜBİTAK UME and TURKAK accredited laboratories.
